17. Scientists use seismic waves to reveal Earth's internal structure. Which is correct? ( )

Seismic wave speed increases monotonically with depth, with no sudden velocity changes S-waves cannot travel through liquid. S-waves disappear at the Gutenberg discontinuity, indicating the outer core is liquid P-wave speed remains constant at the Gutenberg discontinuity, direction changes P波在地壳中的平均速度约为3.2～4.0 km/s，S波约为5.5～7 km/sAverage P-wave speed in crust is ~3.2-4.0 km/s, S-wave is ~5.5-7 km/s

18. (Multi-select) Regarding fault types and characteristics, which are correct? ( )

Normal faults form under tensional stress; the hanging wall moves down relative to the footwall Reverse/thrust faults form under compressional stress; the hanging wall moves up relative to the footwall Strike-slip faults form under shear stress; displacement is horizontal along the fault strike Active faults are defined as faults that have moved in the last 10,000 years and have no direct link to earthquake probability

19. (Multi-select) Regarding seismic wave types and particle motion, which are correct? ( )

S-waves: particle motion perpendicular to propagation; solids only; speed ~0.6-0.7x P-wave speed 瑞利波（Rayleigh wave）的质点运动在地表呈逆进椭圆轨迹，包含垂直分量和径向水平分量，但不包含横向水平分量Rayleigh waves: retrograde elliptical motion; vertical + radial horizontal components, no transverse component 勒夫波（Love wave）的质点运动方向仅限于水平面内且垂直于传播方向，同时也会引起显著的地表垂直运动Love waves: horizontal motion perpendicular to propagation direction; causes significant vertical surface motion

EEW relies on eyewitness reports from the epicenter to alert other areas The Blind Zone is the area near the epicenter where warnings arrive after the S-wave 根据我国预警信息发布规范，地震预警级别根据预估地震烈度从高到低分为红、橙、黄、蓝四个等级，其中蓝色预警代表预估烈度最高，需采取紧急避险措施EEW warning levels: Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue (high to low); Blue indicates the highest intensity 只要发生地震，EEW系统就一定能向震中区所有人发出有感预警EEW can always warn everyone in the epicentral area of any earthquake
